CHISLEHURST SUMMER FAIR
We have been asked to perform at Chislehurst Summer Fair on Saturday 11th June on Chislehurst Common.  This is a great opportunity to promote the academy and show what we can offer to prospective new pupils.   I would like all pupils from the combined class upwards to participate.  Sometimes at these events our older pupils are reluctant to participate but I urge you to participate and promote the academy as you would if we were performing in a theatre.  If for any reason you cannot participate then please let Michelle know either by speaking to me at the end of class or by email to MLSidwell@hotmail.com.

There has been a list added to the board inside the hallway of the hall, please tick off on the sheet whether your son/daughter can attend.  We will be performing an approx. 40 min set of Ballet, Jazz, Modern & Street.  The time is to be confirmed but will be between 1.00pm-3.00pm.  Pupils will not need to attend extra rehearsals as all routines will be rehearsed in class.  We will be performing some new routines and also some routines that we performed in the last show.  Once I have been given the confirmed performance time I will let you know straight away.  Pupils will be wearing one costume for the entire performance and so you will not need to worry about changing on the common.  Older pupils will be wearing academy t-shirts & jazz pants for most dances.   Pupils will need to arrive approx 20mins before the performance and once the performance is over then you can collect your child and take them straight away or take your time and look around the fair.  Please give us your support at this special event and I hope that all pupils will be participating.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU REGISTER ON THE SHEET ON THE BOARD ASAP.

ENGLISH YOUTH BALLET
Congratulations to Courteney Hipwell who performed with the English Youth Ballet at The Churchill Theatre in their production of ‘The Nutcracker’ in August.  Courteney performed ‘on pointe’ for the whole production and represented our school magnificently.  I was very impressed with the high standard of dancers performing and was very proud that Courteney was one of them.  Hopefully in the future more pupils will audition for this amazing experience.

ANNUAL PERFORMANCE
Our next performance will be held at The Bob Hope Theatre on Saturday 19th February 2011.  Please keep this date in your diary.

PANTOMIME AUDITIONS
You should all have received an email regarding The Churchill Theatre pantomime auditions.  I used the current email address we have on file so if you haven’t received a message from me then you may not have updated your details with me.  Pupils, who were lucky enough to receive an audition, please make sure that you wear your Jazz leotard, Jazz Pants, Academy T-Shirt & Hoodie.  Take ALL dance shoes as you don’t know what shoes you may require.  Wear your hair pulled back and off of your face (NO SIDE FRINGES) and remember that they will be looking for dancers with lots of expression as well as dance ability.  In other words, you must smile!!!!!  Please see the board for details of other pantomime auditions.
Please advise Michelle as soon as you hear if your child has been successful in the audition.  I will require a copy of all rehearsals received by the production company.

KENT DANCE CHALLENGE
Pupils performing in either the Junior or Senior troupe will be receiving a separate letter with all details needed for the day.  Please remember that rehearsals have now started and they are charged at £4 per rehearsal.

ADDITIONAL BALLET CLASS FOR PUPILS IN GRADE 4 BALLET UPWARDS

Chislehurst Summer Fair

Congratulations to all pupils who participate in the Chislehurst Summer Fair on Saturday 12th June.
We had wonderful weather, wonderful dancers & wonderful support from both parents and people passing by.  The children danced beautifully and as always I was a very proud dance teacher.  Well done Girls!!!!  The Chislehurst Summer Fair is run by the Chislehurst Rotary Club and at the end of our performance I was approached by one of the event organisers who commented on the children’s wonderful performance.  They have very kindly donated £100 to our dancing school to use as we see fit.  After a lot of thought it was decided that we would put the money towards a new sound system for the hall as our present one was getting quite old and wouldn’t have lasted for very much longer. As so much fun was had by all I look forward to next summer when we can perform with the Rotary Club once more.

UNIFORM CHANGES & NEW TAP SYLLABUS
The ISTD has introduced a new tap syllabus.  Pupils who are currently Grade 3 or higher will continue to learn the old syllabus for the time being but all pupils in Primary-Grade 2 will learn the new work.  This new work means that all pupils are required to have heel taps on their tap shoes.  Any pupil who orders tap shoes through us will automatically receive tap shoes with the heel tap added and when you next renew your tap shoes please ensure they have heel taps attached.
